Megan A. Steffen (林玉屏) is a sociocultural anthropologist and user experience researcher based in the San Francisco Bay Area.
Before working in industry, she conducted over 24 months of ethnographic research in the People’s Republic of China for her Ph.D. at Princeton University. She also held a postdoc at the Society of Fellows split between Tsinghua University in Beijing and the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. She’s taught courses about social science research methods, economic anthropology, and the anthropology of China. In 2019, Routledge published a volume of essays she edited about crowds.
More recently, she’s conducted research for products related to machine learning and online advertising.
